Penelope Fidas

  • Senior Private Sector Specialist, Subnational Business Ready
Penelope Demetra Fidas, a national of Greece and the United States, joined the Subnational B-READY team in 2024. She started her career at the World Bank in 2005 working on the Doing Business Report, where she led the Registering Property indicator over three report cycles. Fidas also co-led the first subnational Doing Business in Mexico report and later led the Doing Business in Morocco report. She continued her career by providing technical assistance on regulatory reform to clients across all regions, while later leading and participating in World Bank lending operations in the AFE, AFW, ECA, and LCR regions; her most recent position was in OPCS, where she focused on risk in World Bank operations. Fidas holds degrees from Georgetown University (BSc in foreign service), the London School of Economics and Political Science (MSc in comparative politics), and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government (MA in public administration and international development). She speaks French, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
