Varun Eknath is an Analyst in the International Trade topic of the Business Ready unit, working on the design and implementation of indicators on international trade. Within the Business Ready unit, he has worked on the design of the indicators on Business Insolvency and led a Knowledge for Change Program project on Business Reform Committees. Varun joined Global Indicators Group of the Development Economics Vice-Presidency in March 2016 and has worked within the World Bank country offices in Kuala Lumpur and New Delhi. Varun previously worked on the Protecting Minority Investors topic within the Doing Business project and within the Trade and Competitiveness practice on investment promotion and facilitation. Before joining the World Bank in 2016, Varun worked in New Delhi as lawyer and at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development in Geneva. Varun holds a Masters in Law and Economics from the World Trade Institute, Bern, Switzerland and the Bachelors of Arts and Law (Honors) from National Law University, Delhi, India. His research interests are in the field of international economic law and international trade policy. He speaks English and Hindi, and is conversant in Russian.
