Feature Team Members

Ricardo Martins Maia is currently the acting Topic Team lead for Business Entry of the Business Ready Unit. He joined the team in April 2021. He has since been involved in regulatory assessments related to Business Incorporation and Entrepreneurship within the DECIG unit. Previously, his work primarily focused on the Starting a Business Indicator of the Doing Business project, as well as on the Entrepreneurship Database project. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, he worked in various areas, including entrepreneurship access promotion and socio-entrepreneurship, taxation, consulting, project management, and research. His career includes roles in the private sector, other multilateral organizations, and NGOs, with additional field experience. Ricardo holds a Master’s degree in International Development from IE University (Spain) and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Porto (Portugal). He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, Tetum, and conversant in French.
