Ramiro Maldonado

Ramiro Maldonado is an Analyst with the Dispute Resolution topic of the Business Ready Unit. He joined the team in April 2023 and supports the Communications, Global Outreach, and Government Engagement working groups. Before joining the World Bank, Ramiro led the Government Relations function in Central America and the Caribbean for a US-based Fortune 100 company, managing policy, political, and reputational risks across 30 countries, representing over USD 1B in annual sales. In addition, Ramiro worked for a public affairs firm on Capitol Hill, performing high-level stakeholder engagement duties with Senate and Congress members and US government officials at the federal and state levels. He has extensive field experience in cross-sector collaboration and partnership building in emerging economies after holding several positions at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Organization of American States (OAS), and his home country's public and private sectors. Ramiro is also a licensed mediator and arbitrator and was an associate at one of the leading Central American business law firms. He holds an MBA with concentrations in Economics & Finance and Sustainable Development from INCAE Business School and Emory -as an OAS scholar- and a JD degree from Francisco Marroquín University. Ramiro also completed certificates in Strategic Communication at Georgetown and Compliance Systems at Cornell. Ramiro speaks Spanish and is conversant in Portuguese.
