Kamal Clark-Chakaroun is the acting Topic Team Lead for Financial Services – Commercial Lending and Electronic Payments – and leads the Data Management Design team of the Business Ready unit. He joined the team in January 2019, and worked on business climate and regulations assessments, focusing on the efficiency and transparency of the construction permitting processes and promoting areas for reforms. As an analyst, Kamal also worked on climate and disaster risk management in Sub-Saharan Africa, and on building energy codes for climate change mitigation. Before joining the World Bank, he worked with a non-profit in Washington DC as a Programs Associate, developing and managing livelihood programs in Iraq. He also served as a Deputy Finance Coordinator and Administration Manager with Doctors Without Borders in the Central African Republic and Niger, respectively. He has also worked as an Investment Advisor at the Arab Finance Corporation in Lebanon. Kamal holds a MA degree in International Relations and Economics from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, in addition to a MA in Financial Assets Management from Saint Joseph University in Beirut. He is fluent in Arabic and French.
