Dorina Georgieva is an Economist and the Topic Lead of the Labor of the Business Ready Unit. With over a decade of experience in private sector development, labor markets, and international trade, she has managed several projects, including Employing Workers and Business Reform Committees. Dorina has spearheaded report writing and analysis for numerous publications, including the inaugural B-READY 2024 report and multiple Doing Business reports. From 2016 to 2018, she worked in the World Bank’s Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia office, contributing her global expertise to regions such as East Asia and Pacific, South Asia, Europe and Central Asia. In addition to her work at the World Bank, Dorina has published in peer-reviewed academic journals. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, she worked with the United Nations Development Program in Istanbul, the Institute of International Studies in New York, and the Bulgarian Consulate General in Shanghai. Dorina holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Economics from Johns Hopkins University and has pursued advanced studies in entrepreneurship, business, and governance at Babson College, UC Berkeley, and Harvard University. She has also participated in international development programs across India, China, and Russia. Dorina is fluent in Bulgarian, Russian, and French, and conversant in Chinese and Turkish.
