Policy Analysis Group

The Policy Analysis Group focuses on private sector development research and analytics. By using publicly available data, we identify best practices and develop interventions to promote growth and sustainability of private firms in today’s ever more complex world.

Our Global Reach

So far, we have been involved in projects and research in a number of countries, including Brazil, Bangladesh, Kuwait, Madagascar, Morocco, Nigeria, and Senegal.

What we do

Data analysis and research. By using Enterprise Surveys and other Global Indicators Group databases, we carry out analyses and research to highlight the most effective interventions in private sector development, especially during times of crisis and economic downturn. Some of our most recent research dealt with the impact of COVID-19 on jobs, the size of government arrears in procurement, and the importance of simplifying commercial justice.

Policy analysis and reform support. By partnering with other teams across the World Bank Group, we provide policy reform advice, focusing in particular on private sector development and important aspects of business regulation. Our work has concentrated in particular on public procurement regulation and practices across countries.
