The Temeke Integrated Justice Center is one of six centers in Tanzania, with nine more under construction to provide comprehensive services in one location. The one-stop justice centers were created to facilitate equal and timely justice for all, particularly in family cases, and to enhance gender justice. The IDA-supported project has expanded access to court services through the construction of 78 subordinate courts with 18 already operational, serving over 13 million citizens.

This Burundi project is helping 87,000 young students get a good start to learning by providing a daily meal. Increased attendance and better academic results are being seen. Parents are helping cook and serve the meals, participating in school life, helping set their children up for successful learning and a brighter future.

In Eswatini, this project is supporting improvements in the availability, quality and reliability of potable water and sanitation services for 38,000 people.

Progress is being made in Madagascar to reduce the high rate of stunting, which reduces children’s cognitive and physical development. This project provides community nutrition and health services to 2 million pregnant women and young children, which will help Madagascar’s future economic growth and human capital development.

In Mozambique, this project is refurbishing the maternity wing of Jóse Macamo Hospital outside Maputo, helping mothers deliver healthy babies and give them a good start to life. There is also work being done to improve the quality of medical services, availability of supplies, and effectiveness of care.
