Chris Pablo, Senior Urban Specialist and Team Lead of the Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC), participated in the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) second convening of the partners of the Utilities for Climate (U4C) initiative, held in Berlin, Germany, May 7-8, in the margin of the 2023 Global Water Summit: Creating a Climate for Growth, which ran from May 8-10, 2023. Chris presented on “Peer to Peer knowledge: The Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC)” on the afternoon of May 8.
U4C Partner organizations in attendance included: Ankara Water and Sewerage Administration (“ASKI”); Saneamento Básico do Estado de São Paulo S.A. (Sabesp); Sociedade de Abastecimento de Água e Saneamento S.A. (SANASA); Cia. De Saneamento Do Parana (SANEPAR); Société de Distribution d'Eau de Côte d'Ivoire (SODECI); Public Utilities Board (PUB), Singapore’s National Water Agency; and Mekorot, Israel National Water Company.
Organized as a as a peer-to peer knowledge event for leading utility CEOs, participants shared their expert experiences and ideas on today’s water challenges and solutions, including scarcity, digitalization, quality infrastructure and services, clean rivers, climate change impacts and mitigation and adaptation efforts, and project financing. TDLC was a special guest at this event and was asked to share relevant knowledge sharing events (past and prospective) that may be relevant and helpful to the water utilities. IFC and TLDC are discussing how further peer learning requests by the U4C partners can be addressed jointly.
