To date, the KWPF has supported 208 projects across the three KWPF Pillars. These projects span a range of priority sectors. KWPF grants support digital transformation projects across sectors, including eGovernment, Intelligent Systems (ITS), and entrepreneurship. Areas of focus in the Digital Transformation theme include (i) broadband connectivity, access, and use, (ii) digital data/public infrastructure, (iii) digital government services and government-to-business (G2B) services, (iv) digital safeguards, (v) digital capabilities and skills for the future, (vi) firms, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and (vii) markets, technology, and competition.
KWPF grants to strengthen education and skills provide support to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), youth and adult skills development, and education technology. Areas of focus include (i) skills for green jobs and for the digital and modern economy (ii) use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for education service delivery, especially in technical and vocational training systems, (iii) hybrid learning, (iv) active labor market policies, public employment service and labor market delivery systems, including active labor market programs (ALMPs) for youth and economic inclusion programs for the poor, (v) programs for the productivity and resilience of informal workers, and (vi) use of technology to enhance the efficiency, transparency and cyber security of social protection delivery systems.
KWPF grants in health prioritize coverage and quality of care, with a focus on equity, health emergency prevention, preparedness and response, and financial protection, especially for vulnerable populations. Areas of focus under Universal Health Coverage include (i) Health Emergency Prevention, Pandemic Preparedness and Response (HEPPR), (ii) social health insurance and strategic purchasing, (iii) non-communicable diseases (NCD) and aging, (iv) civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) and national identification (ID) systems, and (v) digital health.
KWPF grants in agriculture prioritize irrigation, agricultural development, and ICT in agriculture. Areas of focus include (i) agribusiness and entrepreneurship, (ii) climate-smart agriculture (CSA), (iii) agricultural infrastructure, digital agriculture, and technology, and (iv) food quality and reduction of Food Loss and Waste (FLW).
In these two sectors, KWPF provides support through Pillar 2 grants only. For transport, the focus on is on urban mobility, logistics and connectivity, environment-friendly transportation (including e-Mobility and active transport). For energy, KWPF grants prioritize renewable energy (including solar) and energy efficiency.
