The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Better Life Index is an initiative that seeks to help governments put well-being at the center of policy making. It aims to involve citizens in the debate on measuring the well-being of societies and to empower them to become more informed and engaged in the policy making processes that shape their lives. It brings together key factors that contribute to well-being such as education, housing, and the environment. Three PPP-based indicators are used within the index: household net adjusted disposable income, household net wealth, and personal earnings (figure 10.3).
