Artificial Intelligence (AI) Working Group

AI working group

Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers transformative opportunities for governments to enhance service delivery, improve efficiency, and enforce policies. However, the adoption of AI in the public sector of many countries is hindered by challenges such as limited digital skills, insufficient digital infrastructure, and a lack of data and AI awareness, potentially widening the gap between rich and poor nations.

The Artificial Intelligence Working Group envisages the creation of a community of GovTech experts for implementation-oriented knowledge exchange and collaborative development of policy instruments and tools that can support governments to develop sound artificial intelligence policies for smart, synergized, inclusive and citizen-centered public sectors.

The Artificial Intelligence Working Group is chaired jointly by the Republic of Estonia and Nigeria, with the secretariat and administrative assistance of the GovTech and Public Sector Innovation Global Team. There are 35 member governments, private sector organizations, think tanks and international organizations: Amazon Web Services, Apolitical, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, CapGemini, Chile, European Commission, Gates Foundation, IBM, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Korea, Mastercard, Microsoft, MIT GOV/LAB, Morocco, Mozambique, OECD, Open AI, Portugal, Public Digital, Singapore, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, UNU-EGOV, Uruguay, and USA.
