On January 28th, 2014, the World Bank hosted its first “Brown Bag Lunch” on sexual minorities in the development agenda. The Latin America and Caribbean Poverty, Gender and Equity Group joined a project sponsored by the Nordic Trust Fund to discuss lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people in the LAC region. A host of experts explained the contradiction for sexual minorities: as more countries enact national and international LGBT laws, violence and discrimination are prolific.
