In Minsk Gymnasium No. 8, built in 1952 and renovated in 2006, a new heat exchanger, new lighting, and new multiple gas panes help 830 pupils to stay focused and healthy.

In the 1990s, energy efficiency improvement was identified by the Government of Belarus as one of the key priorities for the country's economy. In Nesvizh School No. 4, students perform a sketch about improved energy efficiency and reduced energy consumption.

From 2001 to 2010, 42 boiler houses and 541 heat substations were renovated with help from the World Bank Social Infrastructure Retrofitting Project.

This new boiler house in Uzda regional hospital is now keeping both doctors and patients warm even on the coldest days. Almost 745 social sector buildings have new or renovated energy efficient equipment. During the winter heating season, the indoor temperature of the building has increased from 18 to 24 degrees Celsius.
