Media reports have recently made false claims about a World Bank report on Iran’s economy.
The World Bank refutes these unsubstantiated reports, and has requested corrections. The Iran Economic Monitor - Spring 2024 edition, disclosed on July 10, 2024 and based on modeling done as of the end of May 2024, primarily focuses on the economic outlook for Iran and on key economic developments and policies in a longer-term and global context. A section of the report includes an analysis of the potential impact on Iran’s economy of expanded conflict in the Middle East, similar to analysis the World Bank has done for other countries in the region as well as for the region as a whole.
The World Bank has been producing the Iran Economic Monitor since April 2016. Previous issues of the Monitor can be accessed here.
