RABAT, March 23, 2022 – Today, World Bank Group President David Malpass met with Nadia Fettah Alaoui, Minister of Economy and Finance of Morocco.
President Malpass and Minister Alaoui exchanged views on the impact of current global challenges on the region and reaffirmed the close partnership between the World Bank Group (WBG) and Morocco.
President Malpass and Minister Alaoui discussed the government’s reform program to improve national registries, protect the vulnerable from the volatility in commodity prices in a sustainable manner, and accelerate the green transition. President Malpass emphasized the importance of accelerating the implementation of the government’s SOE reform and enabling private sector investment in SOE assets to enhance competitiveness and create more jobs.
Following President Malpass’s meeting with Minister Alaoui, the WBG and Morocco signed the $450 million World Bank Program Morocco Public Sector Performance Program for Results (ENNAJAA), which supports key governance reforms in Morocco aimed at improving transparency and efficiency of public spending, enhancing revenue collection efficiency, and digitizing public administration for better service delivery and accountability.
