On February 19, 2019, the Pandemic Emergency Financing Facility (PEF) Steering Body approved a request from the Government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for $20 million from the Cash Window to finance surge response activities for the ongoing Ebola outbreak affecting the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri. An initial payout of $10 million will support the implementation of the Government’s Strategic Response Plan 3.0, to be carried out for the 6-month period from February to July 2019. The PEF Steering Body plans to reconvene in one month to take a decision on the balance amount of US$10 million.
