Project Objectives Description: The original Project Development Objective is to support the Government of Malawi to meet the immediate food security and livelihoods restoration needs of the communities affected by drought and promote recovery and resilience in key affected sectors. Following the devastating effects of Tropical CycloneIdai, Additional Financing was deemed the most appropriate instrument to scale up key project components, thereby increasing the development impact of the project. The objective, therefore, has been revised to “support the recovery of livelihoods and infrastructure in flood and drought affected areas and strengthen capacity for flood and drought risk management”.
