PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This IDA credit will be used to improve urban sanitation in growing coastal cities in Vietnam: Nha Trang, Quy Nhon and Dong Hoi. It aims to reduce flooding and improve the collection and disposal of sewage and solid waste in the three cities. Wastewater currently discharging into groundwater, rivers or the sea will be transferred to a number of new wastewater treatment plants to be built under the project. New or improved landfill sites for municipal waste are also planned.
