Background
The World Bank is providing Advisory Services to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI) to strengthen the Ministry’s administrative capacity and enhance the governance and strategic planning in the transport sector. The duration of the Advisory Services is 24 months starting March 19, 2012.
The funding for the Advisory Services is provided within the framework of Operational Program for Administrative Capacity Development (PODCA).
Goal of the Advisory Services
Enable the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to become a trustworthy, transparent and responsible organization working to serve the population and its transport needs, by enhancing the governance of the transport sector in Romania.
Objectives of the Advisory Services
Enhance the internal capacity of the MTI and its subordinated entities to implement reforms related to:
- Strategic planning, sector governance, including corporate governance of the state-owned transport enterprises (SOEs);
- Funding and cost recovery of road and railway infrastructure;
- The effectiveness of road construction costs;
- Coordination and strategic planning of urban public transport in the Bucharest metropolitan area.
