Mentoring program for women in engineering and energy

April 09-November 06, 2024
Buenos Aires, Argentina

In the Western world, women are becoming increasingly active in the workforce. However, gender gaps persist across different areas and levels within organizations.

Wenergy – Women in Engineering and Energy – is the first initiative that seeks to reduce gaps in the labor market in the Argentine energy industry. Led by the World Bank, the Argentine Committee of the World Energy Council (CACME) and the Argentine Center of Engineers (CAI), this 2024 program brought together 42 women in the sector from different regions of the country to promote new relationships and strengthen their professional development. The initiative was also supported by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) of the World Bank and Accenture.

The Mentoring Program for Women in Engineering and Energy aims to:

  • Generate a network of professional women to make them visible, strengthen strategic relationships among them, and provide development and awareness-raising tools.
  • Promote the link between young professionals and more experienced ones, who can be seen as role models and/or female leadership models and value their experiences.
  • Empower professional women to overcome barriers and gender biases to enhance their professional development
