Amplifying Impacts in the Sahel: A Multi-sector Framework for Tackling FCV in WB Operations 

The World Bank Sahel CMU and the Development Impact department have partnered to establish a multi-sectoral program focused on “Trial-and-Adopt” Impact Evaluation (IE) to build evidence on key FCV themes that are relevant across the operations portfolio and enhance the World Bank’s effectiveness in tackling FCV. A cross-cutting theme will be understanding the relationship between development assistance and conflict. The program will be structured around four priority challenges: forced displacement; service delivery continuity and capacity; the social contract and cohesion; and livelihoods and markets.

 Preparatory Virtual Sessions for WB task teams

1. Introduction to Sahel CMU-DIME- FCV Partnership and Task Team Engagement
   Process Date: January 17th (10:00-11:30AM EST)
   Overview: Understanding the partnership objectives, introduction to trial-and-adopt Impact Evaluations (IE), and engagement process for effective collaboration.

2. Roundtable Discussion on FCV Multi-Sector Framework: Evidence and Project Priorities
   Date: January 22nd (9:30-11:00AM EST)
   Overview: Presenting existing evidence and identifying gaps in FCV, seeking feedback on project priorities crucial for informed decision-making.

3. Continued Discussion on FCV Multi-Sector Framework and Next Steps
   Date: January 29th (9:30-11:00AM EST)
   Overview: Building on the previous session, further exploration of the FCV framework and defining actionable next steps, in preparation for the workshop.

In-Person Workshop with World Bank task teams and clients (February 6-8):

The workshop will be delivered simultaneously in Bamako, Ouagadougou, and N’djamena. Task team members and key client counterparts from the Sahel CMU will participate in a combination of hybrid and in-person sessions. Sessions will be articulated around (i) existing evidence and how to best incorporate it into project design, and (ii) clinics to identify learning needs and develop an adaptive learning strategy for each project. Following the workshop, we will continue working with a subset of projects throughout implementation to operationalize the learning strategy.
