Vietnam Development Partnership Forum: A New Platform for Policy Dialogue

The Forum supports substantive policy discussion between the Government of Vietnam, its development partners, the private sector, local and international civil society organizations, national research institutions and other development actors to foster broad-based socio-economic development and improved well-being for all Vietnamese.

Vision and Objectives: The Vietnam Development Partnership Forum (VDPF) replaces the Consultative Group (CG). It’s a platform for high level dialogue and intends to be substantive, action oriented and more inclusive. 

The Forum supports substantive policy discussion between the Government of Vietnam, its development partners, the private sector, local and international civil society organizations, national research institutions and other development actors to foster broad-based socio-economic development and improved well-being for all Vietnamese.

Theme: The overarching theme for the VDPF for the period of 2013 – 2015 is “Establishing new partnerships towards competitive, inclusive and sustainable growth”.

Key Features: VDPF is organized once a year event in December, the preparation is coordinated by a secretariat based in Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), with dialogue themes agreed significantly ahead of time. The Forum is co-chaired by MPI and the World Bank in Vietnam. The policy dialogue at technical level begins at least two months ahead of the main event, and the outcomes of such discussions serve as background documents for VDPF. An outcome statement with agreed actions will be issued after the main Forum, with follow up steps.
