Wendy Mendes is the Manager of the Asset Management team within the World Bank Treasury's Asset Management & Advisory Department. She is responsible for overseeing the investment management of global fixed income and money market portfolios for all external clients and trust funds, with the World Bank acting as investment manager and trustee, respectively. In addition, the Asset Management team undertakes tactical asset allocation for trust funds and ESG and sustainable investments across all client portfolios.
Prior to assuming this role, Wendy led the Strategic Investments team, where she was responsible for developing model portfolio strategies, managing sector allocation for total return portfolios, coordinating the team's input to investment policy, designing investment frameworks and reviewing investment related legal agreements. Wendy joined the World Bank Investment Management Department in 1997 and has over 25 years of investment management experience.
Prior to joining the Bank, Wendy worked for the Bank of England for eight years in a number of monetary policy areas. For the last four years at the Bank of England, Wendy was a senior portfolio manager in the Reserves Management Department, which included being head of liquidity management and a one-year secondment to the UK Treasury.
Ms. Mendes has a BSc. in Pure Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Bath University, England.
