Vinaya Swaroop is the Global Lead of the Global Solutions Group on Growth in the World Bank’s Global Practice of Macroeconomics and Fiscal Management. Earlier, Mr. Swaroop was a Sector Manager covering economic policy and poverty issues in the World Bank’s South Asia Region.
Mr. Swaroop is a broad-based economist with over 25 years of experience and research, applied and policy skills in macroeconomics and public finance. He has worked in operations, research, and corporate units of the Work Bank and his engagement has focused on policy-based research, sharing knowledge and relevant best practice lessons with clients, leading country economic dialogue and policy reform loans. Mr. Swaroop has published articles in refereed journals (including the Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Public Finance, World Bank Economic Review, World Development), and books on topics that include (a) aid fungibility and effectiveness; (b) public spending and economic growth; (c) efficacy of public spending and good governance; (d) public infrastructure pricing; and (e) efficiency of taxation.
Mr. Swaroop holds a PhD in Economics from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA.
