Keiko Miwa is the World Bank’s Country Director for Cabo Verde, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, and Senegal in the Western and Central Africa region since March 1, 2023.
She previously was the Regional Director for Human Development in the Middle East and North Africa region. Prior to this position, she served as Director for the Education Global Practice.
Keiko Miwa joined the World Bank in January 2001 where she began her career working on Mauritania and Sierra Leone. She has held several positions, including World Bank Resident Representative in Lao PDR and South Asia Regional Director for Education.
A Japanese national, she holds a PhD in educational policy and administrative studies from the State University of New York at Albany.
