Joseph Mawejje is an Economist in the World Bank’s Prospects Group. Before joining the World Bank, he held various roles at the Economic Policy Research Centre and the Private Sector Foundation in Uganda. He works on fiscal policy and growth with a focus on low-income countries. His contributions in these areas have been published in scholarly journals such as International Economics, International Review of Economics, Economic Analysis and Policy, The Journal of Development Studies, Review of Development Economics, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, South African Journal of Economics, and Public Budgeting and Finance. Joseph is the author of Fiscal Vulnerabilities in Low-Income Countries, a book published by the World Bank in 2024. He holds degrees in Economics from Makerere University, The Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and The University of South Africa.
