Hilda Shijaku


Hilda Shijaku is Senior Economist at the World Bank Office in Vientiane, Lao PDR. Until June 2024 she was the Senior Economist at the World Bank Office in Tirana, Albania. In this capacity, Hilda led strong client engagement through policy lending and technical assistance, including on tax expenditure and public financial management reform. She also led core Analytical and Advisory services, including the recent Albania Country Economic Memorandum.

Before joining the World Bank, Hilda worked at the Central Bank of Albania, including as Deputy Director of the Monetary Policy Department, Head of the Macroprudential Risk Assessment Unit, and Head of Monetary Statistics. Her expertise is in economics and finance, including macroeconomic modelling and forecasting, and economic policy.

Hilda obtained a PhD in Economics from Staffordshire University, has passed Level I of the CFA Program, and holds a Bachelor’s in Finance/Banking from Tirana University.
