Cathrine Machingauta is a Data Scientist in the Development Indicators and Data Services (DECIS) Team of the World Bank’s Development Data Group. Her work at the World Bank puts data to work for development, reduces duplication of data collection efforts, and promotes accessibility and re-usability of data for research purposes. As a member of the team that manages the World Bank's Microdata Library, International Household Survey Network (IHSN) Survey Catalog, and Development Data Hub, Cathrine's current work focuses on implementing and promoting standards and best practices for data and metadata management, data curation and dissemination, knowledge management and dissemination, as well as internal and external training on the above. She has contributed towards the development of internal policies governing personal data privacy for survey data and guidelines for statistical disclosure control.
Cathrine holds a Graduate Certificate in Project Monitoring and Evaluation from American University; an M.A. in International Development Studies from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo, Japan; and a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Zimbabwe. She is based in Washington DC, and she is a Zimbabwean national.
