Cătălin Păuna is the Senior Economist of the World Bank Office in Romania. His responsibilities include monitoring of macroeconomic and sectoral developments; preparation of economic assessments and studies, including standard World Bank products such as Country Economic Memorandums, Public Expenditure Reviews, Country Partnership Strategies, the EU 10 report, risk and exposure analysis, economic forecasts, sectoral studies.
Păuna has been with the World Bank since 2000. Before joining the Bank, he worked as a lecturer at the University of Essex, UK, and as economics consultant for institutions such as the World Bank, the OECD, the EC, and international companies and consultancies. He has written extensively on the economic transition of Central and Eastern European countries.
Păuna holds a PhD in Economics from the Romanian Academy of Sciences, a MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, an MA in Economics from the State University of New York and the Central European University and an MSc in Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Bucharest.
