Luc Christiaensen is a Lead Agricultural Economist in the Eastern and Southern Africa Unit of the Agricultural and Food Global Practice of the World Bank and Head of the Agricultural Policy Action Lab based in Paris. He has written extensively about and contributed to policy dialogues on issues related to agriculture, poverty, and jobs; structural transformation, urbanization, and the green transition; as well as the effects of shocks, disasters, and risk management in Africa, East Asia, and Europe. Before joining the Agricultural and Food Global Practice, he was the Head of the World Bank Jobs and Labor Mobility Center in Rome. He holds a PhD in agricultural economics from Cornell University.
