The Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC) is providing technical assistance to the city of Ahmedabad, India, in collaboration with Fukuoka City, under the City Partnership Program, to improve its sewerage management system.
As a first step, a delegation of around six officials from Ahmedabad will visit Fukuoka in mid-January to learn from city’s advanced wastewater management system. As a part of this study tour, the delegation will learn about Fukuoka City's sewerage networks and monitoring systems, and visit wastewater treatment facilities, including sludge solid fuel conversion facilities, phosphorus removal and recovery facilities, sewage biogas power generation facilities, recycled water facilities, and treated wastewater utilization system and flood control facilities. Over the coming months, Fukuoka City officials will be dispatched to Ahmedabad on a short-term mission to understand the city’s existing wastewater management system and propose measures to improve it under the Gujarat Resilient Cities Project.
