The Tokyo Development Learning Center (TDLC), a collaborative effort between Japan and the World Bank, has emerged as a beacon of knowledge sharing and capacity building. Its innovative programs, including the Technical Deep Dives (TDDs), have played a pivotal role in breaking down knowledge silos and fostering transformative change within and beyond the World Bank.

The recent book, Communities of Practice at the World Bank: Breaking Knowledge Silos to Catalyze Culture Change and Organizational Transformation (Routledge, 2024), highlights TDLC's pivotal role. Authors delve into real-life instances, emphasizing how TDLC's activities, especially TDDs, foster knowledge exchange across sectors. Notably, TDLC's impact extends beyond the Bank, raising awareness among urban practitioners about critical issues like urban planning for aging societies, creative cities, and healthy urban environments.
