About this Course This introductory eLearning course focuses on integrating gender considerations into disaster risk management (DRM) to ensure that projects benefit women and men equitably. It examines how gender roles and inequalities shape risk, vulnerability, and resilience to natural hazards, and why gender-responsive approaches are critical for effective DRM. What You’ll Learn You will learn how gender roles influence the ways women and men experience, manage, and respond to disasters, understand how these differences should be addressed in DRM projects, and explore practical approaches to designing interventions that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. The course also features case studies that demonstrate gender-responsive DRM in practice. How the Course Works The course is self-paced and delivered through short eLearning modules that combine key concepts, practical guidance, and real-world case studies. Learners can progress at their own pace and build a strong foundation for integrating gender considerations into DRM projects.
