Kalmyrza Beisenbayev is a farmer in southern Kazakhstan, who has seen his harvest improve due to the World Bank-supported Second Irrigation and Drainage Improvement Project. The Central Asia Water and Energy Program (CAWEP)—a partnership between the World Bank, European Union, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom—is analyzing the performance of the region’s irrigation sector to further develop cooperation between the World Bank and governments across Central Asia to strengthen services for farmers.
