Central Asian countries are embarking on developing a regional One Health Framework for Action. One Health is an integrated, unifying approach that aims to sustainably balance and optimize the health of people, animals, and ecosystems. In this video, the World Bank’s Global Director for Agriculture and Food Martien van Nieuwkoop — speaking from the Central Asia One Health meeting in Almaty — explains briefly why One Health is an important, timely, and cost-efficient approach to preventing future pandemics and protecting food systems.
