Addressing economic disparity between regions and urban centers is a major focus of the World Bank’s current partnership with Georgia. Together with the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, and the Municipal Development Fund, the World Bank is implementing a series of Regional Development Projects in the country, totaling $200 million. These projects aim to boost the economic and tourism potential of regions such as Kakheti, Samtskhe-Javakhet, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, and Imereti, by building critical infrastructure and improving access to Georgia’s invaluable cultural heritage sites.
