On September 13, Georgia officially joined the International Development Association (IDA) as a donor at a signing ceremony that was part of a conference celebrating 30 years of partnership between the country and the World Bank. Georgia originally joined IDA as a beneficiary in 1993, receiving $1.53 billion in financial support before graduating from the association in 2014. Georgia’s new donor status at IDA represents a major milestone in the country’s economic transformation, marking the first time it has become a donor to any international financial institution.
