Anna Bjerde, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, discusses Kazakhstan’s path to a green economy, and stresses the importance of a just transition to cleaner energy that focuses on people. Ms. Bjerde also touches upon the Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR) — undertaken jointly by the World Bank and Kazakhstan — that will help inform the country’s approach and strategy in pursuing green, sustainable growth. This video was recorded during Ms. Bjerde's visit to Nur-Sultan in November 2021, where she participated in a brainstorming session with Prime Minister Askar Mamin. This session brought together government officials, World Bank experts, and representatives from the private sector, to explore possibilities for decarbonizing Kazakhstan’s economy.
