Rano is Executive Director of the public association, “Cultural-Educational Center for Girls: Tomiris” in Tajikistan. As a young girl, Rano had to prove to the men in her family that she should pursue higher education. She later realized that the issue of girls’ education was relevant beyond her town and even country and has dedicated her life to promoting opportunities for girls, including those living in rural areas and with disabilities. Her story is part of our “Women of Central Asia” series, which celebrates International Women’s Day 2021.
