Four billion people around the world still lack access to clean, efficient, convenient, safe, reliable, and affordable cooking energy. While around 1.25 billion are considered in transition with access to improved cooking services, the rest still cook with traditional polluting fuels and technologies. This is costing the world $2.4 trillion annually, driven by adverse impacts on health, women and the environment. To achieve the world’s target of universal access to clean cooking by 2030, around $150 billion is needed annually – political and financial commitments at the global and national levels will be key.
