Albania has made significant progress in bridging gender gaps. Albania is close to gender parity in education and health outcomes. Women’s presence in politics and civil service is also high. Still, women face more obstacles than men throughout their lives, especially in building a successful career. Further improvement of the legal framework, the labor market and by rewarding women on an equal footing with men, can help Albania make a big difference and increase GDP by as much as 20 percent.
