Lao PDR is vulnerable to natural disasters, particularly floods. From July-September 2018, the country suffered its most costly floods in a decade, with estimated damages and losses of US$371.5 million, and recovery needs of US$520 million. Together with other donors and the Government of Lao PDR, the World Bank supported a Post-Disaster Needs Assessment, which helped mobilize new funding for disaster recovery and resilience.
