The Rwanda Demobilization and Reintegration Commission, with support from the World Bank and development partners, spearheaded an effort to categorize ex-combatants by degree of permanent disability in order to offer them tailored support. Today, disabled ex-combatants are models of hope for the general disabled population of Rwanda. They are part of thriving cooperatives, live in adapted housing and enjoy a high degree of integration in the general population.
