Forty women in the remote Kyrgyz village of Orukzaar have established several self-help groups, with support from the World Bank. The women have been provided with access to high quality vegetable seeds and with training on how to grow large yields of tomatoes, carrots, and beetroot. The World Bank has supported the creation of about 700 self-help groups in the Kyrgyz Republic, helping improve the lives of nearly 4,300 households in 160 villages across the country.
