Every year, Bangladesh sends about half a million migrant workers for short-term employment abroad. Due to the challenges faced by migrant workers, the Safe Migration for Bangladeshi Workers (SMBW) Project was conceived to enable informed decision making through improved access to information and services. Implemented by BRAC, the project focused on building capacity across 20 districts in Bangladesh with the help of community-based organizations which provided outreach and key information to over 1 million prospective migrant workers.
