Thanks to the National Horticulture and Livestock Project (NHLP), farmers in Daykundi Province can now earn a better income by using new production methods to grow their horticultural crops.Aimed at promoting new farming practices, the NHLP began in Daykundi Province in 2014 and currently covers six of the province’s eight districts, and will expand into all by the end of 2017. The project has helped establish more than 1,400 jeribs -- or 280 hectares -- of new orchards of almonds, apricots, grapes and apples, and helped construct 18 rain water reservoirs to improve irrigation.
