A newly lined 1,200-meter long canal is benefiting some 2,400 people in Enjil district. With agriculture as Afghanistan’s largest source of local income and livelihood, access to an improved irrigation canal has led to increased land productivity. Water flow is now more efficient. Local farmers estimate that it took the water 90 minutes to reach their farms before the canal was lined. It has now been reduced only 20 minutes.
