More than one in three women worldwide have experienced sexual and gender-based violence during their lifetime. In contexts of fragility and conflict, sexual violence is often exacerbated. In March 2015, representatives from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Nepal, Papua New Guinea, and Rwanda convened in Kigali, Rwanda, and Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo for a south-south learning tour under the auspices of the World Bank’s Global Platform on Addressing Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV) in Operations in Fragile and Conflict-affected Situations (FCS).
