With a length of 2,170 km, the Ayeyarwady River flows through the heart of Myanmar and is an essential part of many people’s lives. With the approval of a $100 million credit for Ayeyarwady River Basin management, millions of poor people whose livelihoods are water-dependent, are expected to benefit. The project aims to help the government of Myanmar manage water resources more sustainably and efficiently, increase agricultural productivity, improve disaster risk management, make water transportation safer, and provide water for domestic use.
